| Water Testing Field Kit
Army units and other services place demands for a number of Water testing field kit. DRL, Tezpur always put its effort to meet requirements in time in spite of many constraints and hurdles due to prior R&D commitments.
Iron removal unit
High iron content is a major problem in drinking water of North Eastern India. It creates a lot of problems in supply of potable water to the common consumers. High iron content in drinking water has become an acute problem in water works in this area. Many new technologies have been developed still the problem remains unsolved.
An Iron Removal Unit has been developed by DRL, Tezpur for Army barrack and small community use which is handy and easy for operation. The rate of filtration is 300 litres/hour. The unit is provided with backwash outlet valves for easy cleaning. Iron content of water can be easily brought down to 0.3 mg/l (WHO standard) with feeding water of high iron content. 200 IRUs has been supplied to Eastern Command, Kolkata for the uses of the Services.
Analysis of water samples
Essentiality to ascertain the water quality in order to get rid of water-borne diseases is a basic need. Water-borne diseases affect the consumers to a large extent. Many services and the formations in this region take the advantage of water analysis for physio-chemical and bacteriological test facilities available at DRL, Tezpur.
